Freedom of speech is a basic right in any democracy. It is more important now than ever before that we exercise that right.The world is increasingly ruled by evil people doing evil things, and they would like to be able to do that quietly, without interference, and with nobody making a fuss. We are supposed to bend the knee, let the yoke be placed on our necks, let our hands and feet be bound with shackles, keep quiet and do as we’re told even if it means we die for it.
I am sick of it, as are countless millions of others.
My problem is, being an old man who has suffered a stroke, I am no longer physically capable of getting out to demonstrations, meetings, protests. All I have is my laptop and the social media. So the obvious way to keep on fighting is to speak my piece and the hell with all those who think that I and all those like me should keep our mouths shut.
The idea being touted by certain people now that our freedom of speech is dependent on not contradicting them is repellent to anybody who resents all the work being done now by these same people to abolish the fundamental democratic right of nations to decide who shall or who shall not govern them.
So while mine is a small voice speaking from a small corner of the world, it is nevertheless a voice, joining with all those other, louder, voices in the act of standing up against the rising tide of oppression and tyranny.
